Academic Fraud at Large Scale? A fake ICANN 2013

European Neural Networks Society organizes annually International Conference on Artificial Neural Networks, with the acronym ICANN. The ICANN 2012 conference is currently taking place in Lausanne, Switzerland. This event is 22nd in the ICANN series that started as ICANN 1991 in Finland.

Now it seems that there is a major academic fraud taking place. Namely, a web site at http://www.waset.org/conferences/2013/amsterdam/icann/ indicates that a conference with exactly the same name is organized by an organization which has nothing to do with European Neural Networks Society. A question arises how could the academic community fight against such fraudful attempts to claim ownership through naming a conference with the same name as a well established conference series.
